Edgar 'Jones' Jones

My brother introduced me to Edgar last night and i think i'm hooked. Its got such an old bluesy, jazz sound that you could be fooled into thinking it was produced in the 50s but it was actually released last year. Edgar 'Jones' Jones was in the Liverpudlian four-piece, The Stairs, who gained a bit of fame in the early 90s. Since their demise, he's worked with Johnny Marr, Paul Weller and St Etienne to name a few and formed a band, The Big Kids, with two of The Zutons. Soothing Music For Stray Cats was his first solo album for 13 years and its mixture of blues, soul, funk, jazz is ear-inspiring. Definately worth a listen, heres a few tracks to get you started:

Edgar 'Jones' Jones - Sittin' On The Fence
Edgar 'Jones' Jones - Do Doh Dontcha Doh
Edgar 'Jones' Jones - Oh Man That's Some S**t (highly recommended)

Now go buy his album:
